One of the main reasons Polished Speaker was created is to help young, senior, and couple missionaries better understand and communicate in their mission language, so let’s have a quick storytelling session.
Young Missionaries
As a former teacher in the Philippines Missionary Training Center, Roger (founder and CEO) taught many missionaries who had great desires to learn their mission language. However, some were frustrated because learning the language at such a short time was overwhelming. Thus, he came up with this program to better help young missionaries learn and master the language. In this way, they can come and serve with more confidence.
Senior and Couple Missionaries
In one instance, Roger went to a Sunday service up in the northern part of the Philippines. During the elders quorum class, a newly assigned senior missionary opened his Google Translate app and followed what the translation said. However, 99% of what the app picked up and translated was wrong! He thought, "What a missed opportunity!" That senior missionary could've connected more with the ward and shared more to inspire the quorum.
Thus, he came up with this program to help our senior and couple missionaries to learn the basics of the language. He believe that learning and speaking in their mission language will be a much more rewarding experience for them and for the people they will serve.
